POETRY

“I always make the first verse well, but I have trouble making the others.”

Molière

“Perhaps no person can be a poet, or even enjoy poetry, without a certain unsoundness of mind.”

Thomas Babington

“The most wasted day of all is that on which we have not laughed.”

Sebastien Roch Nicolas Chamfort

These poems are intended to be fun – a diversion.

Use these poems as you see fit.  All that I ask is that you not ruin them.  Don’t dissect the poems.  Poems are not meant to be cut apart.  Let the students read them, perhaps even enjoy them, and then they can write their own poetry.  Use these poems as a springboard for their own creativity – or silliness.
